ELECTION: Harbaugh is ethical consensus builder
Why does Leslie Harbaugh deserve election to the Peninsula School Board District 4 position? She is a civic-minded leader, team player and capable consensus-builder with impeccable ethics.
Working with Harbaugh, I have seen her in action as a leader in the Kopachuck Parent Teacher Student Association, Parent District Council, parent-support initiatives and the levy campaigns. I’ve watched her calmly mediate between opposing parties to build consensus during argumentative discussions about issues in the district.
She reaches out to people, actively listens, asks astute questions and then respectfully reiterates goals. She identifies the motivations of different constituents explores compromises that can move everyone forward.
Harbaugh has been integral in improving school-to-parent communication and securing parent education, such as social media seminars. She exhibits endurance, energy and patience with tireless commitment to students and schools.
Along with an understanding of local political history, immediate and long-term needs in the district, and impacts at the state legislative level, Harbaugh has the collaborative approach and strategic thinking necessary to move the district toward a better future.
