CLIMATE: Northwest glaciers are healthy, thank you

Re: “’Disastrous’ summer for NW glaciers” (TNT, 9-14).

Please see the extensive study by Professor Don J. Esterbrook, PhD, professor emeritus of geology at Western Washington University, who writes: “Mount Baker glaciers disappearing? A response to the Seattle Times.” This scholarly work disproves the Seattle Times article entirely.

You need to do more investigative work before repeating unsubstantiated material from other sources.

To quote Esterbrook: “Having just finished a major analysis of Mount Baker’s glaciers dating back thousands of years, I thought, what kind of nonsense is this? So I put together some of the data on Mount Baker glaciers that will soon be published.” He then demolishes by photo, map and data the entire speculative Times article.

There’s enough bad science out there without poor journalism echoing it.
