Traffic: WSP doesn't have bigger concerns?
Re: “State troopers on the lookout for left-lane campers” (TNT, 3-17).
Whew! What a relief it was to find out that for the next few days Washington State Patrol will be handing out tickets to individuals who drive in the left lane for “an extended period.”
It warms my heart to know that the biggest concern WSP has for the roadways is how long an individual driver utilizes the left lane. I thought there might be bigger issues, but it looks like I was wrong.
The article says that 14,000 left-lane violators were stopped last year, and the fine is $136. Hmmm. That comes to a little over $1.9 million. Never mind; I now understand why this issue is so concerning that it requires a special emphasis patrol.
