Danica Patrick Is Urging All Parents With Kids Playing Youth Sports
Danica Patrick has an urgent message for all parents with kids playing youth sports in 2026.
Does America have a youth sports problem? It certainly feels like it. Parents are spending thousands of dollars per year on youth sports, when 99.9 percent of these kids have a 0.00 percent chance of playing in college, let alone the pros. There are families sacrificing weekends, vacations and more, to prioritize youth sports.
Playing sports as a kid is important to many, of course. There are a lot of benefits, from friendships to teamwork to work ethic and more.
But there's a line, and most parents are probably crossing it. The main lesson: you don't need to take it so seriously.
Patrick, who didn't graduate high school in person because she was so committed to driving professionally, is speaking out.
The 44-year-old former NASCAR and IndyCar driver is urging all U.S. parents to take things less seriously.
"Can we pump the brakes on youth sports?" a post shared by Patrick read.
Patrick added: "I don't have kids but I know a lot of people with kids and this seems on point."
U.S. sports parents can agree
"😂😂😂 Travel hockey and lacrosse mom here! I feel seen 🫣," one fan wrote.
"Amen! Headed to the field tonight to be a sub-coach for one team while my 11 year old plays simultaneously on another field and then 45 minutes later my middle's game starts and my husband is coaching that team. We're finnneeeee 😅," one fan added.
"Musical theater is where it's at people! Drop them at the same time and place each week….watch one weekend of performances. Very little laundry," one fan joked.
"Once they figured out how to monetize kids sports they destroyed them. They made it such that if you don't drink the kool aid your kid can't compete with the kids that do. I absolutely hate it," one fan added.
What do you make of the problems with U.S. youth sports right now?
