Giants Land Surprising Edge at Fifth Pick in New NFL Mock Draft
Thursday night could bring major surprises when it comes to the top of the order as teams not named the Las Vegas Raiders choose their players of the future.
And Fernando Mendoza will be long gone by the time the New York Giants select. They already have talented quarterback Jaxson Dart in place to attempt to achieve further success next season.
However, they have plenty of other needs they could address through this year’s NFL Draft, including defensive and offensive line, cornerback, linebacker, and wide receiver. They hold the No. 5 and No. 10 picks, giving them a good shot at drafting two quality players early in the order, and based on a new mock draft, a surprising player could fall to them at fifth overall.

ESPN’s NFL insider Peter Scrhager released his updated mock draft on Wednesday, showing that the New York Giants could end up getting Ohio State’s Arvell Reese at No. 5. It would be quite a surprise, seeing as Reese is projected to go second overall to the New York Jets in many mock drafts.
However, Schrager believes the Jets will go for Texas Tech’s David Bailey as the better player at No. 2, and that Reese could fall as far as fifth overall. He said that while the Giants don’t need an edge rusher, they need quality players and Reese makes more sense if they trade Kayvon Thibodeaux.
In Schrager’s new mock draft, former Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love is going third overall to the Arizona Cardinals, and Ohio State linebacker Sonny Styles is going fourth to the Tennesee Titans.
Along with Reese at fifth overall, the ESPN insider believes that the Giants will choose Arizona State wide receiver Jordyn Tyson 10th overall. That could Dart another solid option to throw passes to along with a healthy Malik Nabers and new acquisition Isaiah Likely.
Reese had 34 solo tackles and 6.5 sacks in his past season for the Ohio State Buckeyes. Many feel he’s surely a top-four pick for this year’s draft, but anything is possible when teams start making their selections.
