The Winlock baseball team was on the wrong end of a low-scoring battle in Toutle on Wednesday, where the Cardinals lost to Toutle Lake 4-1.

The Ducks got on the board first with a run in the opening frame, but the Cardinals tied the game on a dropped third strike in the top of the third.

Toutle Lake got the lead right back in the bottom of the third, and in the sixth, they tacked on two insurance runs.

Carter Svenson pitched all six innings for Winlock, allowing six hits and four runs (three earned) while walking three and striking out seven.

Liam Groves picked up a hit, drew two walks, and scored the Cardinals' lone run, while Daelen Bradshaw was credited with an RBI.

Winlock (6-10, 5-10 C2BL) is locked into the No. 6 spot in the C2BL, which will put them against the Pacific's No. 3 seed in the first round of the district tournament on Saturday, May 9.

The Cardinals and Ducks will face off again on Friday in Winlock.
