The Adna baseball team picked up a critical league victory on Wednesday, topping Toledo on the road 16-7 to remain in a tie for first atop the Central 2B League standings.

The Pirates jumped on top early and never let up, first scoring nine runs across the first three innings before adding seven across the final four frames. They scored in every inning except the sixth, and they also scored at least two in five innings.

Toledo did what it could to try to keep pace, but the runs didn't come as often as they needed to for the Riverhawks to stay in the game.

Talan Guerrero both and Jack Pennington both hit home runs and combined to drive in four runs to lead the Adna offense, while both Jackson Bright and Aiden Percival drove in three runs and collected two hits.

Joaquin Acosta didn't record a hit, but he did draw four walks, drove in two runs, and scored to lead the Toledo offense, while Ryker Hansen and Masson Ruiz added a hit and an RBI apiece.

With the win, Adna (16-2, 13-2 C2BL) remains in a tie with Napavine, which also won Wednesday, atop the C2BL standings, and a potential league title could come down to Friday's results.

If both teams win, the Pirates and Tigers will be co-league champions and will flip a coin for the No. 1 seed in the upcoming district tournament. Both of the top two seeds will earn a first-round bye.

Toledo (12-6, 11-4 C2BL) now sits in the No. 4 slot, one game behind Toutle Lake with one to play.

Toledo and Adna will face off again on Friday in Adna.
