It was a simple scenario for the Vikings on Friday, win and live to see another day. They accomplished that in thrilling fashion, rallying down 3-0 to triumph 5-3 at home in the final C2BL game of the season.
For the second time in the span of 11 days, Mossyrock (2-14, 2-14 C2BL) were triumphant and will now take on Onalaska in a pigtail game on a date to be announced. The winner will make the Class 2B District 4 tournament and play in another pigtail game.
The rally started in the bottom of the fifth with an RBI groundout and a laced run-scoring double off the bat of Kevin Mitchell. In the sixth, back-to-back two-baggers tied the game and Waylen Huguenin gave the Vikings the lead on an RBI single. He ended up scoring on a critical MWP error.
Despite loading the bases with two outs, the Timberwolves (4-16, 3-13) weren't able to pull off a comeback of their own. Austin Isom polished off a complete game performance for Mossyrock with nine strikeouts.
Six different Vikings had hits with the three-through-six spots in the lineup all scoring once. For MWP, Jake Flathers and Bryer Kelly each had two hits. All three of its runs came in the third on two consecutive fielder's choice and Flathers' RBI base hit.
The T-Wolves are locked into the No. 7 seed for the district tournament and will battle No. 3 Toutle Lake in the first round.
