Ahmad Hardy Health Update: What We Know After Shooting Incident

Ahmad Hardy had a breakout season for the Missouri Tigers during the 2025 college football season. After spending his freshman season with the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks in 2024, Hardy transferred to Missouri. The 5-foot-10 running back was a workhorse for the Tigers, finishing fourth in the nation in carries (256), second in rushing yards (1,649) and tied for sixth in rushing touchdowns (16).

The Mississippi native was honored for his play, being named the SEC Newcomer of the Year and one of 13 players recognized as a consensus All-American. The sturdy 206-pound running back has yet to miss a game in his college football career, appearing in all 12 games for the Warhawks and Tigers as a freshman and sophomore.

Although Hardy has avoided any on-field injuries so far as a collegiate athlete, the Lawrence County High School graduate was the victim of a major off-field incident. On Monday, Missouri announced that disaster struck over the weekend, as the star athlete was the victim of gun violence early Sunday morning.

Hardy was attending a concert in his home state of Mississippi when he sustained a gunshot wound. He underwent surgery later that day and is in stable condition. The University of Missouri did not immediately declare a timeline for his return to football activities. Hardy will use this offseason to recover.

"Missouri star RB Ahmad Hardy is in stable condition," On3 wrote on X. "After sustaining a gunshot wound at a concert early Sunday morning, the school announced."

Although the Tigers hope for Hardy to return for the Sept. 5 home opener against the Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions, his mental and physical health are the first priority after the shooting.
