Rangers Give Concerning Injury Update on Corey Seager
The Texas Rangers will be holding their breath that shortstop Corey Seager's back injury isn't anything too serious.
On Sunday, manager Skip Schumaker told reporters that Seager will see the team's back specialist in Arlington as they await his MRI results.

Seager missed all three games of the Houston Astros series and will miss his fourth straight game on Monday against the Colorado Rockies. The 32-year-old infielder is currently in a brutal 0-for-27 slump.
Seager had played in 42 of 43 games for the Rangers this season before his back injury. However, he is going through the worst offensive stretch of his career, slashing .179/.286/.353 with seven home runs and 20 RBI in 182 plate appearances. His 80 wRC+ is also the worst mark of his career by far.
It's unknown how long Seager's back has been bothering him, but it would make sense that it has been a lingering issue given his poor offensive numbers. The veteran shortstop also has been striking out at a 27.5 percent rate, which is a career-high.
The Rangers signed Seager to a massive 10-year, $325 million deal ahead of the 2022 season. He helped lead Texas to a title in 2023 when he was the World Series MVP and the runner-up for AL MVP.
Seager has had some impressive offensive seasons with the Rangers since signing his deal. However, he has dealt with a slew of injuries during his time in Texas.
The back injury is the latest ailment for Seager and the Rangers will be hoping that he doesn't have to miss significant time. In Seager's absence, utility man Ezequiel Duran has handled shortstop duties regularly. Duran is slashing .270/.339/.441 with three home runs this season.
Entering play on Monday, the Rangers hold a 22-24 record, which is disappointing. That being said, Texas is only one game back of the Athletics who are in first place at 23-23 in a weak AL West division.
