Fans Didn't Love Victor Wembanyama's Honesty After Game 2 Loss in NBA Finals

The San Antonio Spurs had a golden opportunity to even up the series against the New York Knicks, but Victor Wembanyama - literally and figuratively - threw it away.

With the score tied 104-104, the Spurs got a stop with 13 seconds remaining and seemed well on their way to taking the last shot. However, Wembanyama threw the ball away as he was trying to push the pace. Knicks star Jalen Brunson got possession of the ball and drew a foul.

After Brunson only made one free throw, Wembanyama had a chance to be the hero and win Game 2 of the NBA Finals. However, he missed his attempt at a game-winner on the biggest stage in sports.

During last night's postgame press conference, Wembanyama took full accountability for the Spurs falling to 0-2 in the NBA Finals.

"I'm still very blurry, and that's the whole problem," Wembanyama told reporters. "I need to have more poise, more control over the game. That's the general image."

Wembanyama then made an alarming admission about his mindset in the NBA Finals.

"I could've been better at recovering from the high of the conference finals," the French phenom said.

NBA fans didn't hold back their thoughts on Wemby.

Unsurprisingly, Wembanyama received a ton of criticism for making this comment after a crushing Game 2 loss.

"When players start reflecting mid series it's over," one fan said.

"This was the problem from the beginning and we all saw it. Just ridiculous but I'm glad he's up here taking accountability," a second fan commented.

"This is so pathetic," another fan wrote. "Genuinely so unbelievably pathetic you cannot let it happen."

"HE JUST ADMITTED OKC WAS HIS SUPER BOWL," another fan declared.

The NBA Finals will shift over to New York for Game 3 on Monday night.

If the Spurs want any chance at making a comeback in this series, they need to defeat the Knicks in front of a hostile crowd at Madison Square Garden. Of course, that's easier said than done.

Tipoff for Game 3 is at 8:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
