NBA Reviewing Victor Wembanyama's 'Dirty' Play in Game 3

The NBA is looking into Victor Wembanyama's alleged "dirty" play in Game 3 of the 2026 NBA Finals.

The Spurs topped the Knicks in Game 3. New York is now leading San Antonio, 2-1, heading into Game 4 on Wednesday night. During the first half, Wembanyama got into a tussle with Knicks star point guard Jalen Brunson.

Brunson appeared to be tugging onto Wembanyama's jersey. Wembanyama responded by shoving Brunson's head out of the way. Brunson fell to the ground and demanded a foul call, though the referees appeared to miss it.

However, while nothing was called, the NBA could still hit Wembanyama with some type of discipline.

"Whatever you saw is what you saw," Brunson said postgame.

NBA insider Marc Stein reports on Tuesday morning, June 9, that the league will be looking into Wembanyama's shove of Brunson.

"The NBA, as is customary, will today review Victor Wembanyama's first-quarter foul on Jalen Brunson to determine whether any additional penalties (such as a retroactive flagrant foul) are assessed," he reported.

Knicks legend Stephon Marbury didn't hold back on Wemby's play

The former Knicks guard made it clear he sees Wembanyama as a "dirty" player.

"Wemby is an international, they play dirty overseas just so you know," Marbury said after San Antonio's 115-111 road win. "We're not used to playing dirty in America the way how Wemby just now threw Jalen Brunson.

"Now If I'm watching film and I see Wemby throw somebody on my team… the next game I'm gonna pop him in his rib cage so hard with my elbow that he's going to fall and drop to the ground and he's going to wish he never put his hands on me.

"So next game, I guarantee you, after y'all watch film what he did to Jalen Brunson… you better make sure you put that knife in his neck. That's where it's at."

Game 4 will be interesting on Wednesday night.
