Aces' Chelsea Gray Makes WNBA History With Red-Hot Performance
The Las Vegas Aces notched their fifth consecutive victory on Thursday night, taking down the Portland Fire with a 105-89 win in their Commissioner’s Cup matchup.
The Aces were propelled to victory by veteran guard Chelsea Gray, who score 29 points on an astounding 9/13 shooting from behind the 3-point arc.
Gray’s nine three pointers tied the WNBA’s all-time single-game record, tying Arike Ogunbowale, Jewell Loyd and Kelsey Mitchell. Rhyne Howard reached this mark twice.
“I had a couple of games where I was, ‘OK, I’m hitting them in practice, but not here.’ But you know, this is just about trusting the work,” Gray said after the win, via ESPN.

Back-to-back reigning MVP A’ja Wilson finished the win with a game-high 32 points. Jackie Young notched an 18-point, 10-assist double-double.
Aces coach Becky Hammon is happy with the way her backcourt duo of Gray and Young operates.
“It’s nice to have Jackie where you can get Chelsea off the ball, because she is a really good shooter,” Hammon said postgame. “A lot of the times, the ball is in her hands and she’s getting us into offenses where she’s passing. So at times it’s nice to get the ball out of her hands and let her do some of the easier work.”
