Report: 49ers Are Pursuing Blockbuster Maxx Crosby Trade
The San Francisco 49ers could make a huge splash on the trade market before the start of the 2026 season.
San Francisco has already made a few notable additions this offseason, signing future Hall of Fame wideout Mike Evans and acquiring defensive tackle Osa Odighizuwa in a trade with the Dallas Cowboys. That being said, they might not be done making moves.
According to NFL insider Hondo Carpenter, the 49ers have expressed interest in trading for Las Vegas Raiders defensive lineman Maxx Crosby. However, they've got some competition in that department.
"I am telling you there is a lot of interest in Maxx Crosby," said Carpenter, via the New York Post. "Two teams specifically are nuclear hot: the Eagles and the 49ers."
The Raiders agreed to trade Crosby to the Ravens earlier this offseason, but Baltimore backed out of the deal before the official start of the new league year. Apparently, their front office and medical staff had concerns about Crosby's knee injury from the 2025 season.
Crosby, meanwhile, said the Ravens' energy was "off" when he met with them for his physical.
"Everyone's got their own theory, conspiracy theory, no one really will ever admit on either side what the real truth is or whatever," Crosby said. "Ultimately, it doesn't even matter. I am where I'm supposed to be. I know that. I'll just say that. . . . S**t happens for a reason. I know exactly who I am. I'm f*****g crushing my rehab. I'm doing what I'm doing. I wasn't supposed to be in Baltimore and that's it. You know what I mean? I'm meant to be a Raider. It's through my damn core. And that's it. I leave it as simple as that."
Would Maxx Crosby be the perfect addition to the 49ers?
The 49ers already have a superstar pass rusher in Nick Bosa, who has racked up 278 tackles, 168 QB hits, 64.5 sacks and 13 forced fumbles in his career. The issue, however, is that he's dealt with injuries several times.
If the 49ers acquire Crosby, they'd at least have a reliable edge rusher capable of leading the defensive line when Bosa isn't on the field.
Are the 49ers willing to part ways with draft picks for Crosby? Only time will tell, but he'd certainly help them keep up with the Los Angeles Rams and Seattle Seahawks in the NFC West.
