Cardinals RB Jeremiyah Love would be OK with load management
The Arizona Cardinals should have big plans for their No. 3 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft during his rookie season.
Running back Jeremiyah Love rushed for 1,372 yards and 18 touchdowns last season. He added 280 yards and three touchdowns in the passing game. He won the Doak Walker Award and became a semifinalist for the Heisman Trophy.
With questions about the quarterback situation this offseason, Arizona could lean on the running game in head coach Mike LaFleur’s first season.

On Monday, Love said he wasn’t worried about earning personal accolades with the Cardinals. He wants to do his job to help the team win, and personal awards will follow.
Love suggested he’d be fine if the Cardinals use load management to keep him healthy throughout the season, noting 30 carries a game can up during a 17-game regular season, plus postseason appearances, should the team make it that far this year.
“All the pressure is not going to be on me,” Love said, via NFL Media. “You’ve got guys like Marv (in Harrison Jr.), Trey (McBride). We’ve got a lot of guys in the running back room, as well, so split some carries if need be. You don’t need just one guy going out there and getting 30 carries a game. What do we got, 21 games this season potentially?
“So, that’s not going to do too good in the long run. But I just love being around guys that are great at football. A lot of professionals around, the NFL, it’s just great to be around, and I’m excited to showcase our skills together.”
Love averaged 18.8 touches per game (carries and receptions) during his final season at Notre Dame, well under the 30-carries per game mark that he mentioned in the interview. The Fighting Irish kept Love’s legs fresh by giving the ball to Jadarian Price, who was the No. 32 pick by the Seattle Seahawks in April’s draft.
