Breaking: Bucks Trade Giannis Antetokounmpo To Heat In Blockbuster Deal
After months of speculation, the Milwaukee Bucks have agreed to trade away Giannis Antetokounmpo.
ESPN insider Shams Charania has been reporting that Antetokounmpo could be moved ever since this year's trade deadline. He's been linked to the Boston Celtics, Cleveland Cavaliers, Golden State Warriors and Miami Heat among other teams.
"Giannis' situation has been playing out for 12 months. The Milwaukee Bucks are officially open for business. They're getting teams' best offers between now and the NBA Draft," ESPN's Shams Charania said. "Giannis, for a period of months, has made it clear to the Bucks that he believes the time has come for both sides to part ways."
Well, the Bucks have finally decided to pull the plug on their time with "The Greek Freak."
According to Charania, the Bucks are trading Antetokounmpo to the Heat for a package that is centered around three first-round picks, Tyler Herro, jaime Jaquez Jr. and Kel'el Ware.
"Milwaukee Bucks are trading franchise icon Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bobby Portis to the Miami Heat for Tyler Herro, Kel'el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kasparas Jakucionis, 3 first-round picks (including No. 13), 1 pick swap and 1 second-rounder, sources tell ESPN," Charania wrote.
Big time move for Miami.
After the Heat failed to make the playoffs, Pat Riley made it clear that he wasn't thrilled about the state of his team.
"We are just not good enough. We are not happy with it," Riley said. "This is the first time in those three years that we have an opportunity to do something with our roster, with our flexibility, with our players."
Adding a former Finals MVP who averaged 27.6 points and 9.8 rebounds per game this season will certainly help the Heat get back into the title conversation.
We'll see if the duo of Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bam Adebayo thrive in South Beach.
