Who’s got the best classic seafood in Tacoma? Vote for your favorite

Where do you go when the ocean calls?

The Lobster Shop is regularly mentioned as one of the area’s best restaurants for seafood and celebrations. That Commencement Bay view along Ruston Way is hard to beat.

Longtime owners Denny and Katie Driscoll announced this week they have sold The Lobster Shop. The future of their sister spot, Boathouse 19 at the Narrows Marina, is yet to be determined.

Meanwhile, there are many choices for classic seafood experiences in our fair waterfront region, from classic stalwarts like Anthony’s at Point Defiance and in Gig Harbor to modern interpreters Gertie and the Giant Octopus.

For the purposes of this survey, we’ve stuck with classic American-style seafood spots, where clam chowder, Dungeness crab, Hood Canal oysters and decadent lobsters reign supreme. Therefore, no sushi, seafood boils (such as at the new Crab King Cajun Boil & Bar) or mariscos (as in the also new-this-year Culichitown Tacoma). Here we have also omitted Crudo & Cotto, one of Tacoma’s best restaurants, because it’s in an Italian class of its own.

So, what’s your favorite seafood spot? Vote for your favorite below and we’ll reveal the winners later this month.
