This is the best sports bar in Pierce County, readers say
From its perch at the corner of Sixth Avenue and Proctor Street, West End Pub has lived up to its sports bar mantra.
It’s the best in Pierce County, according to readers, who voted 355 times for the neighborhood hangout. Competitor and sister bar Terry’s Office Tavern nabbed 176 tallies, or one-third of the vote.
West End, with 30 televisions, 50 pull tab games and a pool table, was ranked a 16-seed in our alphabetized bracket, while Terry’s was No. 12.
The final game was a family feud — all in good fun. Owners Jeff and Helen Fraychineaud bought the ‘60s-era Terry’s in 2018 and picked up West End in 2020, changing little but updating the food and draft list. They also own The Parkway, Hank’s and Cole’s in Ruston.
Still on tap: Coors Light, Bud Light, Stella and Modelo, plus Manny’s Pale Ale and Mac & Jack’s African Amber.
Terry’s put up a valiant effort with its Krusteaz fried chicken and jojos, but Sixth Avenue was not to be outdone.
In addition to boneless Buffalo wings, nachos supreme and a salad topped with prime rib, turkey and spicy chicken, fans at West End can relish a patty melt, fish and chips, a 10-ounce sirloin with a Jack Daniels glaze while watching the game. On weekends 10 a.m. to noon, start off right with a country breakfast of two biscuits, sausage gravy, bacon and scrambled eggs, or maybe a breakfast sandwich on sourdough.
The bar also boasts a spacious side patio for sunny days (opening for the season soon).
Next time you need a place to kick back and watch the game, why not West End Pub?
Thanks for voting in our sports bar bracket, which started with 64 bars before heading to the Spirited 16, the Lush 8 and of course the Final Four. Thousands participated in six rounds.
