For TNT readers, one shop makes the best cookies in Tacoma area. It wasn’t close

The Tacoma area takes its cookies very seriously.

Lots of local bakers have perfected their version of the beloved sweet treat, but one Tacoma business takes the cake (or the cookie), according to our readers.

The News Tribune recently asked readers to vote for the spot that makes their favorite cookie in the area.

Nearly 130 readers cast their ballot, and 117 of those readers agreed that Cove’s Cookies — soon to be Cove’s Bakery — made the best cookies of them all.

The rest of the votes went to three other local cookie makers. Here are the results.

Cove’s Cookies

Cove’s Cookies is a popular vendor at local markets but soon will open a storefront in Tacoma under the name Cove’s Bakery. The store is slated to open this summer. The jumbo cookies are $6 each, and varieties include brown butter chocolate chip, s’mores, raspberry white chocolate, strawberry shortcake and blueberry cobbler. Cove’s also does rotating flavors each month, and past flavors include apple pie, pumpkin cream cheese and brown sugar cookie butter. Along with cookies, the bakery will sell banana bread, cinnamon rolls and New Zealand-style ice cream. To see where to find Cove’s, check out its Instagram for the monthly schedule.

This grocery store chain produces a locally famous chocolate chip cookie, dubbed “The Cookie.” For $4.19, you get a large, dense cookie with Belgian chocolate chips and toasted walnuts. It’s served warm, and the inside is so soft that it can be a bit of a chocolatey mess to consume. That’s also because almost half of the cookie’s total weight is in chocolate, according to the Met Market website. Along with chocolate chip, the grocery store also makes a peanut butter version of “The Cookie.”
