Try out special rolls and ramen at new downtown Tacoma sushi restaurant

A new sushi spot opened its doors Monday on Pacific Avenue in Tacoma.

En Sushi offers a selection of special rolls, bento boxes, donburi, ramen and a variety of vegan options. The restaurant also has a full bar with an extensive sake list, along with Japanese whiskey and Korean soju.

James Lee, the owner and chef, owns three other restaurants throughout the state. He has over 30 years of experience and training in Japan.

En Sushi has been about a year in the making, and Lee said his friend recommended downtown Tacoma as a good place to open shop.

The Lady in Red roll has spicy tuna and cucumber, topped with spicy albacore and fried onion crisps. It goes for $22.99.

Another special roll is the Ruston Roll for $20.99, with avocado, cucumber, crab meat, soft-shell crab and radish sprouts, topped with baked unagi.

There are also appetizers like takoyaki, stuffed jalapenos and “mushroom bombs,” which are deep-fried mushrooms stuffed with cream cheese and spicy tuna.

Vegan options include salads and veggie rolls, along with rolls with vegan crab meat, tuna and eel.
