Tacoma McMenamins to reopen lodging at Elks Temple starting Friday
Here’s another sign of the slow reopening Washington is undertaking during the coronavirus pandemic.
McMenamins announced this week that lodging at its Tacoma Elks Temple will begin in a “limited capacity” starting Friday.
Don’t plan on showing up to have a huge party.
Renee Rank Ignacio, director of marketing for McMenamins, said in a statement sent Thursday to The News Tribune: “Following guidelines set forth by the state and county in response to COVID-19, Elks Temple is not yet open as a place for people to gather, dine or drink. When the hotel opens on Friday, our restaurants will still be closed for dining in but will be offering full room service and takeout service.”
Ignacio added, “The Bottle shop will be open for the sale of to-go bottles of wine, cans of beer and all retail offerings. At this time, there is no consumption of food and beverage allowed on the property other than in the hotel rooms.”
McMenamins reopened the Tacoma site for takeout dining options only on April 24, one year to the day of its official grand opening in 2019.
The site initially closed down in March as limits to crowd sizes, and an eventual stay-at-home order, took hold in statewide measures to stop the spread of COVID-19.
