One of two new Amazon Go stores in Pierce County has opened.

The new Amazon Go, 17710 Canyon Road E., No. 400 in the Frederickson Place shopping center, opened Tuesday (Feb. 14).

As previously reported, the Canyon Road store and another planned Amazon Go at 15518 Meridian E. in South Hill have been in the works under different developers since the two sites were purchased in separate transactions in 2021.

Hours at the newly opened Frederickson Place store are 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. The store features “Just Walk Out” technology, shopping using Amazon’s app, eliminating the need for cashier-based checkout.

The store also offers a package-return center for eligible items purchased on Amazon at its customer service counter inside the store. To use, choose the location when you set up your return online and choose a drop-off location.

“After submitting the return request, you will receive a return QR code which you need to bring to show a store employee along with your return, no need to print or package anything,” according to Amazon.

The store “offers an expanded selection of grab-and-go food and beverage items, including a broader range of beer and wine, and everyday essentials you might need in a pinch,” it added.

The store also features a made-to-order kitchen, including breakfast, sandwiches and burritos, hot and cold deli sandwiches, salads and wraps for customers to choose and customize.

It offers a variety of beverages, including Starbucks coffee “and on-tap beverages including Rise Brewing Co. Nitro Cold Brew, Health-Ade kombuchas, fountain soda from Coca-Cola, and ICEE slushies,” according to the store’s news release.

There also is self-serve Pinkberry Fro-yo and free toppings.
