Here’s where BECU says it is planning its next Pierce County branch location

Washington state’s largest credit union is continuing its brick-and-mortar branch expansion with a new location in Pierce County.

Tukwila-based BECU this week announced it will open a new Neighborhood Financial Center in Lakewood, 10011 Bridgeport Way SW, this winter.

The new branch will be BECU’s eighth Pierce County location, which include sites in Tacoma, Gig Harbor, Bonney Lake, Puyallup and University Place.

A search of records show that permits have yet to be filed with the city of Lakewood.

In March, BECU opened its new Pierce County Financial Center at 3408 S. 23rd St. in Tacoma, formally a Bank of America. The site is near Tacoma Central shopping center. Last summer BECU opened its new financial center at The Shops at Harbor Hill shopping center.

“Especially with so many service members in the community, we know flexibility is important,” Jason Rudman, BECU’s chief member and digital experience officer, said in a statement. “Our location in Lakewood will offer both in-person and digital services — like Video Banking — to help our members access the services they need to reach their financial goals.”

The new, 3,600-square-foot Lakewood Neighborhood Financial Center will “offer in-person financial advice and support for opening new accounts, loans, mortgages and more,” the credit union said in a release. “It will also include space for digital services, like Video Banking, where members can access financial support on-demand.”

The credit union also has added locations in White Center and Spokane-South Hill and is planning locations in Kirkland, Stanwood, Bainbridge Island and Duvall, the release added.

BECU has more than 1.5 million members and $29.4 billion in assets.
