Plans for another Pierce County McDonald’s are moving ahead. Here’s an update
Plans for a new McDonald’s in Lakewood appear to be moving forward.
Pierce County real estate excise tax affidavit records this month showed that McDonald’s USA LLC has purchased vacant property near the intersection of San Francisco Avenue Southwest and Bridgeport Way Southwest.
In February, The News Tribune first reported on the burger chain’s plans ahead of its public hearing.
The lot is next to nonprofit Centerforce’s office building and was sold by a Gig Harbor-based LLC which in May also sold off its interest in the Centerforce parcel.
The vacant lot sold for $1.4 million, according to the real estate record submitted.
Becky Newton, Lakewood economic development manager, told The News Tribune in response to questions that the permits for McDonald’s are currently under review with no anticipated opening date.
A media contact for McDonald’s did not respond to a request for comment.
Plans submitted to the city call for a new drive-thru and dine-in restaurant that would be approximately 3,900 square feet.
The Lakewood plans are not the only ones in the works for the burger chain.
A McDonald’s that includes a double-drive-thru is in the works in Puyallup at a mixed-use development there.
Another McDonald’s also appears to still be in the works at 3801 Pacific Ave. in Tacoma. A land use application filed May 6 is awaiting resubmittal/revisions, according to its status listed online. That proposal also calls for a drive-thru and restaurant, at 3,854 square feet.
