New Xfinity store now open in Bonney Lake, plus restaurant news
Bonney Lake now has its own Xfinity store, 20508 98th St. E., Suite A. The grand opening was Dec. 12.
Customers can try out Xfinity mobile phones and tablets and learn more about Xfinity internet, TV and home security services, according to Jack Follman, Comcast public relations manager. The store will bring several new jobs to the area.
“We’re excited to be part of the Bonney Lake community in a more personal way,” said Rigo Topete, vice president of sales and marketing, Comcast Pacific Northwest Region. “This store gives our customers a place to connect with our team face-to-face, ask questions, and discover our latest products and services – from fast, reliable WiFi to Xfinity Mobile to smart home solutions.”
Store hours are Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Multiple Restaurants Close Their Doors
Olive Branch Cafe and Tea Room at Freighthouse Square will close on Jan. 1 after a decade in business, The News Tribune previously reported.
The Victorian-style cafe offers salads and sandwiches, along with a variety of seasonal teas.
In a statement posted to the restaurant’s website, the team wrote “Whether you joined us for a quiet cup of tea, a lively conversation, or a moment of peace in a busy day, you made Olive Branch what it was.”
Cookie Dough Delight, a dessert shop in Tacoma’s Stadium District, will be closing on Dec. 28.
The store sold edible cookie dough, ice cream and other sweet treats. It opened in 2021, originally as a franchise of the chain Cookie Dough Bliss.
The owners announced the closure on Instagram, citing rising operation costs, as The News Tribune previously reported.
Soulberry Coffee House closed Dec. 15, after about two years operating on Court A in Tacoma. Along with coffee and tea, the shop offered a variety of nonalcoholic drinks and cocktails and hosted live music and other events.
The owner, Terri Quintana Jessen, previously told The News Tribune that economic challenges were the main reason behind the closure.
Both the Tacoma and Puyallup locations of Gather Juice Co. closed Dec. 6., as The News Tribune previously reported.
The small business opened in 2020, serving smoothies, acai bowls, avocado toast, grain bowls and other bites. The juice bar opened in Tacoma in 2020, while the Puyallup location opened just three months ago. The owners posted on Instagram a few days after doors had closed, apologizing for the abrupt closure.
“The reality is the economics just stopped working. We gave it everything we had, and we’re proud of what we built, but it was time,” they wrote.
