Local pizza brand and Yemeni coffee café coming to Tacoma Mall
More new food and beverage options are on the way at Tacoma Mall, while two new retail stores are on the brink of opening.
Qamaria Yemeni Coffee Co. will open at the mall’s Village next spring, according to information provided to The News Tribune by Jeannine Hall, director of business and marketing development at the mall. Qamaria’s closest site for now is in Redmond, and the café touts its use of “100% Premium Yemeni beans.” Such coffee has made inroads in U.S. markets after initially taking hold among the immigrant population in places such as Dearborn, Michigan.
Qamaria is based in Dearborn along with its primary roastery. It has grown into a national franchise with dozens of U.S. locations.
It also won’t be the first such café in Tacoma. Sana’a Cafe, a California-based coffee and dessert shop, opened in August at 2505 S. 38th St., among the first of its kind in the state.
Meanwhile, Fat Zach’s Pizza will open this fall in the former MOD Pizza space just outside the dining-pavilion entrance across from BJ’s Brewhouse.
It will be the first Tacoma location for the restaurant. The business started as a food truck in 2019, opened its first storefront in Sumner then added a second in Puyallup in 2021 and has since added a South Hill site.
Fat Zach’s offers specialty pizzas as well as traditional versions along with wings and salads, sides and desserts.
In other openings, Shoe Palace was expected to open this week, and Swarovski, which sells jewelry, watches and crystal pieces, is projected to open June 21, according to Hall.
Potato Corner is anticipated to open in the mall’s dining pavilion this fall, and Clove Indian Cuisine could open at the mall across from Kizuki Ramen & Izakaya as soon as next spring.
