A sign of recovery: Tacoma transfer center to accept trash drop-offs four days a week
Tacoma residents soon will have the option to drop off their trash at the Tacoma Recovery and Transfer Center.
Starting May 4, the center at 3510 S. Mullen St. will accept residential and commercial garbage loads on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays only.
Residential yard waste loads will be accepted on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays only.
Commercial garbage loads in excess of 1,000 pounds from essential businesses only are being accepted seven days a week.
The facility will be open from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily.
Customers must maintain social distancing measures, and payments should be made by credit card.
The Household Hazardous Waste Facility is still open Fridays through Mondays and is closed Tuesdays through Thursdays.
The schedule change is part of a phased reopening of the center, which closed in March to comply with COVID-19 safety measures.
