A 39-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a shooting that killed a 28-year-old woman in Spanaway on Tuesday.

Pierce County Sheriff’s detectives arrested the man Friday afternoon at a house near South 58th and South Mullen Streets, according to a press release from the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department. The man has been booked into the Pierce County Jail for first degree murder.

Detectives said Friday they are searching the property for evidence of the shooting.

Officers responded to a report at about 9:50 p.m. on Tuesday of a woman found lying near the side of the road on 208th Street East near Mountain Highway.

When deputies arrived, they found that the woman had at least one gunshot wound.

Detectives previously determined that the woman was involved in a confrontation with a suspect that happened either in the road or alongside the road where a vehicle was parked.
