Name of man killed while walking crossing Pacific Avenue in Tacoma has been released
The Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office has released the identity of a man stuck and killed Monday evening by a vehicle in Tacoma.
Lyle Cropper Pratt, 66, died of multiple blunt force injuries in the 8800 block of Pacific Avenue South. The Medical Examiner did not provide a place of residence.
The death was ruled accidental.
Pratt was struck after he had began to cross the street in the middle of a block, Tacoma Police spokeswoman Wendy Haddow said. He stepped out from in front of a stopped bus which the vehicle’s driver had changed lanes to avoid, she said.
“He was all in dark clothing,” Haddow said. “Just couldn’t see him.”
Pratt died at the scene, she said. The driver stopped at the scene.
