Officials identify man struck, killed by vehicle in Tacoma while crossing road

A 61-year-old man struck and killed Saturday in the Central Tacoma neighborhood was identified Wednesday by the Pierce County medical examiner.

Darin Clark of Tacoma died of multiple blunt force injuries, the Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office said in a news release. The office ruled his death an accident.

Police said Clark crossed South Sprague Avenue without using a crosswalk in the 1700 block, and he was hit by a car.

The driver who hit Clark is a 31-year-old man. Tacoma Police Department spokesperson Wendy Haddow said Saturday that officers had no indication that speed or driver impairment were factors in the collision.

Haddow said Wednesday that police’s investigation into the fatal collision had been completed, and it was found to be an accident.
