A second person linked to a Friday standoff in Bremerton involving multiple police agencies has died, authorities said.

The Pierce County Sheriff’s Department said on social media Friday that deputies had been involved in a shooting in the 3000 block of Forest Drive in East Bremerton around 3 a.m. that morning.

The situation unfolded as police followed a man thought to be a suspect in a recent homicide from Pierce County to Bremerton, which is in Kitsap County.

Multiple agencies were involved in the pursuit, according to a report from the Kitsap Critical Incident Response Team (KCIRT) on Nov. 17.

Deputies from the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Department, Pierce County Sheriff’s SWAT team and Bremerton police, as well as F.B.I. agents, zeroed in on a male subject at a house on Forest Drive.

“Several shots were heard and believed to have come from the residence,” a press release said. “Kitsap County deputies and Bremerton Police officers provided containment, and residents were asked to shelter in place.”

Kitsap County’s and Washington State Patrol’s SWAT teams also assisted at the scene.

Around 10 a.m. Friday morning, police reported shots fired from the north side of the residence on Forest Drive, according to the most current report.

A 47-year-old female and a male subject were hit with gunfire. The man was declared dead at the scene, while the female was transported to St. Michael’s Medical Center in Silverdale, where she later died.

KCIRT and Pierce County Force Investigation Team (PCFIT) are leading the independent investigation, per the release.

The former includes the police departments of Bainbridge Island, Bremerton, Port Angeles, Port Orchard, Poulsbo, Sequim and Shelton, as well as the sheriff’s offices of Clallam and Kitsap counties. The Washington State Patrol is also part of KCIRT.

Due to the involvement of Kitsap County Sheriff’s deputies in the shooting, that office will be excluded from this investigation, according to the release.

KCIRT and PCFIT have been managing the site since 11:45 a.m. Friday. The investigation remained active as of 9 p.m. Friday night as officers processed evidence.
