Police arrest man in connection with Dec. 5 Tacoma shooting, homicide

Tacoma Police detectives arrested a 24-year-old man Thursday on suspicion of murder, just hours after the victim of the Dec. 5 shooting had been identified by the Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office.

On Tuesday evening, officers were dispatched to the 9300 Block of South Ash Street for a reported disturbance and possible shooting. About the same time, Lane Gouker, 26, was being driven to the hospital in a private vehicle, according to a Tacoma Police Department news release. Hospital staff pronounced him dead and called South Sound 911.

Detectives developed probable cause for the suspect and, with the assistance of patrol officers, arrested him Thursday. He was booked into the Pierce County Jail for suspicion of murder.

Investigation of the case is ongoing, police said.
