Update: Gig Harbor man who died after he was hit by a car identified by medical examiner
A man who was hit by a car and killed Tuesday, Dec. 19, in Gig Harbor has been publicly identified by the Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office.
After the accident, Jerry Tanksley, 57, was taken to Tacoma General Hospital where he succumbed from his injuries.
His cause of death was ruled an accident and he died from “multiple blunt force injuries,” according to the medical examiner.
Just after 6 a.m. on Dec. 19 a Mercedes Benz SUV was traveling northbound on Point Fosdick Drive, Gig Harbor Police Chief Kelly Busey previously told The News Tribune.
The driver of the vehicle was a 54-year-old woman.
She hit Tanksley near the 4800 block of Point Fosdick Drive, according to Busey.
Busey said Tanksley was wearing dark clothing and was in the lane of travel.
It remains unknown whether Tanksley was standing in the lane or trying to cross.
