A woman who was found dead at the Pierce County Jail on Sept. 30 has been identified by the Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Sabrina Voeller, age 35, died of “acute fentanyl and methamphetamine toxicity,” and her manner of death was ruled an accident, the Medical Examiner’s Office said in a release.

Pierce County Sheriff’s Department corrections deputies found an unresponsive inmate in one of the jail housing units about 9:30 a.m., The News Tribune reported, based on a release from the sheriff’s department. The deputies performed CPR and administered Narcan to the woman, but she was pronounced dead. They didn’t know at the time if she had ingested an illicit substance, and detectives began an investigation, sheriff’s spokesperson Sgt. Darren Moss told The News Tribune.

Moss said in a phone call Dec. 4 that Voeller was booked into the Pierce County Jail shortly after midnight on Sept. 29, and that it’s possible she ingested the drugs before arriving at the jail. He directed The News Tribune to request public records of the investigation from South Sound 911. The News Tribune’s request is pending.
