Update:

The woman injured in a Tacoma vehicle accident Friday night has died, Tacoma Police Department spokesperson Shelbie Boyd confirmed today.

The News Tribune learned of her death when one of the woman’s family members called. Her organs are being donated to five different people, and the family notified a police detective of her death, the family member said.

Boyd said the woman who died was 22 years old.

Initial post:

Tacoma police said Monday that a wreck that closed part of Norpoint Way Northeast on Friday night wasn’t fatal, correcting a previous report.

The Tacoma Fire Department arrived on scene and initially pronounced the victim, an adult female, dead, but a doctor requested that they transport her to a hospital, police spokesperson Shelbie Boyd to The News Tribune on Monday. She was resuscitated at the hospital and is alive. Boyd didn’t know her condition.

The Tacoma Police Department announced on social media the road would be closed from Marine View Drive to 29th Street Northeast for a few hours following the collision.

The police investigation of the crash is ongoing.

Asked if DUI was a factor, Boyd said police didn’t make any arrests. An arrest is typically made if DUI is suspected, she added.

Asked about the vehicles involved in the collision, Boyd said she didn’t know. That information is in the collision report which she couldn’t access, she said.
