Man who died in car vs. scooter hit-and-run Monday has been IDed by medical examiner

A man killed in a hit-and-run Monday when a car collided with two scooters on Tacoma Avenue South has been identified by the Pierce County Medical Examiner, according to a news release.

Carl Petersen, 62, of Tacoma was riding one of the scooters in the 8600 block of Tacoma Avenue South when the collision occurred at about 11:30 p.m. Monday, The News Tribune reported. Fire Department personnel pronounced Petersen dead at the scene. The man riding the second scooter was transported to the hospital with serious injuries, The News Tribune reported.

Petersen’s cause of death was listed as “multiple blunt force injuries” and manner of death as an accident, the medical examiner’s release said.
