Motorcyclist dead from high-speed crash on Pierce County road identified, ME reports
A motorcyclist who crashed into a vehicle last week in Pierce County’s Summit area and died has been identified, according to the medical examiner’s office.
David Carlsen, 29, of Tacoma, died June 19 at Vickery Avenue East and 104th Street East from multiple blunt-force injuries. His manner of death was listed as an accident, the office wrote in a news release.
Deputies were dispatched at about 4:55 p.m. to 104th Street East and Vickery Avenue. Before the wreck, several callers reported to 911 that the motorcyclist was speeding in and out of traffic, Pierce County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson deputy Carly Cappetto told The News Tribune at the time.
When the driver of a vehicle made a left turn on Vickery, they did not see the motorcycle driving by at a high speed. The motorcyclist crashed into vehicle, and the rider died upon impact, Cappetto said. The vehicle’s driver was uninjured and cooperated with deputies.
The investigation showed there was “significant amounts” of drugs onboard the motorcycle. The motorcycle was also unlicensed with no registration, she said.
There will be no charges filed against the driver of the vehicle.
