Driver killed after her vehicle struck utility pole in Graham identified

A Graham woman who died after her vehicle struck a light pole last week has been identified, according to the Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Katie Jones, 42, died on Oct. 26 near 86th Avenue East and 224th Street East in Graham. Her cause and manner of death are pending, the office wrote in a news release. That is a temporary designation used when more information is needed for certification.

Deputies were dispatched at about 10 p.m. to the crash where Jones was pronounced death at the scene, according to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office in a Facebook post.

Witnesses told deputies they saw her vehicle driving at a high speed, and it did not appear it braked before the crash, the post said. It was possible a medical emergency contributed to the wreck.
