For second time, a motorcyclist has died at this Pierce County site, WSP says

For the second week in a row a motorcyclist has died at a south Pierce County location on state Route 7 at Pilgrim Road, according to the Washington State Patrol.

That location is between Eatonville and Alder Lake Park.

About 9:20 p.m. Saturday, a 67-year-old man was headed north on his motorcycle in the area of Pilgrim Road while two vehicles were headed in the opposite direction.

Troopers say he struck one of those vehicles and then came to a stop on the northbound shoulder. Dennis A. Corrigan of Spanaway died at the scene.

The two other drivers stopped in the southbound lane. Neither driver – one from Texas and another from Lacey – was hurt, according to the State Patrol.

A 19-year-old motorcyclist died in the same area last week.

Trooper Kameron Watts said Sunday there is a sharp curve in the area and that drivers need to slow down for it.

“Slowing down is a great measure to take,” he said.

Saturday night’s crash remains under investigation, according to the State Patrol.
