A head-on collision on US 101 in Shelton killed a man from Tacoma early Tuesday afternoon, WSP released.

The Tacoma man killed in a crash on U.S. Route 101 in Shelton this week was identified by the Washington State Patrol.

Emergency responders pronounced 32-year-old Roswin Villegas Blanco dead at the scene of a head-on collision near Milepost 346 Tuesday afternoon, WSP announced in a press release.

At 2:57 p.m., a 36-year-old man from Joint Base Lewis-McChord driving south on US 101 lost control of his vehicle and drove into oncoming traffic, striking Blanco’s vehicle.

The southbound driver was transported to Mason General Hospital for injuries.

No drugs or alcohol were involved, the release said.

The cause of the incident, as well as any charges against the injured driver, are pending WSP’s investigation.
