‘He had his whole life ahead of him.’ Motorcyclist killed in Spanaway crash IDed
A motorcyclist who died in a crash on state Route 7 in Spanaway last week has been identified.
According to the Pierce County Medical Examiner’s public portal, the motorcyclist was 20-year-old Keylan Quiroz.
Quiroz’s cause of death was blunt-force injuries of the torso, according to the portal.
The crash was a tow truck versus motorcycle collision, which happened at about 5:59 p.m. on June 4 on state Route 7 and 204th Street East, The News Tribune previously reported.
Quiroz was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Washington State Patrol, and there were no reported injuries to the tow truck driver.
The northbound and southbound lanes of state Route 7 were blocked until about 8:44 p.m., WSP trooper Kameron Watts posted on X.
‘He ultimately passed doing what he loved’
Quiroz’s aunt, Jess Siminiski, set up a GoFundMe for his family to help them through the loss. As of June 9 at 12:13 p.m., the fundraiser had raised $6,142 of its $13,000 goal.
Siminiski said the collision happened while Quiroz was on his way to spend the weekend with his girlfriend.
“Keylan grew up riding bikes, quads, and motorcycles. He knew the laws of the road and how delicate we are,” Siminiski said. “He ultimately passed doing what he loved.”
Siminiski urged drivers to “respect the road” and be aware of motorcyclists.
“Keylan was a hard worker, a loving son, a loving and heartwarming boyfriend, a big brother, a nephew, a cousin, and a friend. He was adventurous, funny, smart, hardworking, determined, and loving... just all around a good guy,” Siminiski wrote. “He had his whole life ahead of him.”
