Pedestrian killed in Tacoma crash on Monday identified by medical examiner

The Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified a 28-year-old man who died after being struck by a vehicle.

According to the medical examiner’s public portal, the man was Artanian Shaw.

The News Tribune previously reported on the collision, which happened June 15 at about 5:28 p.m. at 400 South Tacoma Way. Shelbie Boyd, spokesperson for the Tacoma Police Department, told The News Tribune a motorist hit Shaw, who was a pedestrian, and police found him dead at the scene.

The motorist stayed on scene, Boyd told The News Tribune, and was not arrested.

According to the portal, Shaw’s cause of death was multiple blunt-force injuries.
