The Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the man who drowned in Alder Lake earlier this week.

According to the ME’s public portal, the man was 24-year-old Josué Pascual-Núñez of Burien.

Pascual-Núñez fell off his paddleboard and into the lake on June 24, The News Tribune previously reported. He was not wearing a personal flotation device and did not resurface, according to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office.

Carly Cappetto, spokesperson for PCSO, told The News Tribune there were 24 units on scene searching for Pascual-Núñez. Authorities suspended the search Wednesday night but started again Thursday morning.

Police found Pascual-Núñez’s body on Thursday afternoon, Cappetto previously told The News Tribune.

Pascual-Núñez’s cause of death is listed in the portal as “drowning,” with no other conditions contributing to his death.

Alder Lake is located in the foothills of Mount Rainier, about 10 miles south of Eatonville.
