Officials identify man found dead in creek near Parkland

A man found floating in Clover Creek near Parkland on Wednesday has been identified as a 57-year-old Puyallup man.

Pierce County sheriff’s deputies were called to the 600 block of Tule Lake Road South about 8:15 a.m. after a resident spotted an SUV driving in the creek.

Deputies scoured the area and found Chris Holm facedown in the creek next to his SUV, which came to rest beneath a bridge.

It was unclear why Holm drove four blocks in the creek.

A cause of death has not yet been determined.

Holm drove through a yard in the 200 block of 131st Street South and into the creek, sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer said. Investigators believe Holm got his SUV stuck, got out of the truck and possibly fell.
