A woman who died in a Tacoma house fire Wednesday has been identified as 87-year-old Marjorie E. Post.

The King County Medical Examiner’s Office said Sunday that Post died from smoke inhalation and thermal burns, and that her death was an accident.

She died at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle hours after the fire, which crews responded to about 3 a.m. in the 500 block of North Stadium Way.

Firefighters found the home ablaze, discovered Post in a bedroom and carried her outside.

She lived alone, and investigators think combustible materials on a heater caused the fire.

A cat also died in the blaze.
