Gig Harbor drivers: Expect delays today. Here’s what you need to know

Gig Harbor drivers will see city’s contractor, Active Construction Inc. installing the permanent roadway striping and pavement markings for the Harborview Drive and Stinson Avenue roundabout project on Friday, June 24.

Residents can expect heavy traffic control and delays all day as crews work, according to the city’s announcement.

This is one of two major roads closed due to construction this week in Gig Harbor. Borgen Boulevard closed last week for emergency repairs, which forced residents to take a detour on Peacock Hill Avenue. “The emergency paving project on Borgen Blvd is complete and the roadway is open,” the Gig Harbor Police Department posted on Twitter Friday morning.

Peacock Hill Avenue will be affected by the work ACI is doing Friday.

The Harborview Drive and Stinson Avenue roundabout project began last fall, paused for the winter and resumed Feb. 28.

Editor’s note: This story has been updated to reflect that Borgen Boulevard is open.
