Wok on Fire Asian BBQ, previously a Mongolian grill that operated for 10 years at Olympic Village in Gig Harbor, has reopened as a Thai restaurant under new ownership.

The Thai restaurant’s first day at 5500 Olympic Dr., A-109, was June 27, owner Joy Allen told The News Tribune. The menu includes pad thai, stir-fried entrees, soups, salads, fried rice, curries with desserts including black rice pudding and (seasonally) mango sticky rice. Customers also can order online for pick up or delivery. Appetizers range from $8 to $11.50 and main dishes from $15.99 to $20.

Allen said she will probably change the name of the restaurant to Thai Lime Leaf when she can afford a new sign. Thai Lime Leaf is the name of her other restaurant in Everett, which offers the same menu.

Asked the reason she decided to open a new restaurant in Gig Harbor, Allen said she loves the area. A friend of Allen’s told her about the previous restaurant listing for sale, noticing there wasn’t another Thai restaurant in that area and suggesting “maybe it will be good business,” Allen said.

The new Wok on Fire will join a few other Thai restaurants elsewhere in the Gig Harbor area, including two Thai restaurants on Harborview Drive, Gig Harbor Thai Cuisine by Chili Thai and Family Thai Hut. There’s also Thai and Vietnamese restaurant Lele Gig Harbor in Uptown Gig Harbor and Easy Thai Easy Go by the Purdy Bridge at 6707 Tyee Dr. NW.

The restaurant is open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday, except Tuesdays, when it is closed. Hours on Sunday are noon to 8 p.m., according to their website.

We “just want everybody in Gig Harbor just to come and try our food,” Allen said.
