  • Gig Harbor and Peninsula face off Sept. 6 at Mount Tahoma Stadium at 5 p.m.
  • Ticket purchases have moved to GoFan. No cash will be accepted on gameday.
  • Parking is assigned for each school, and overflow parking is available.

The Tides and the Seahawks will compete in the rivalry Fish Bowl game at Mount Tahoma Stadium this weekend.

The two rival football teams from Gig Harbor High and Peninsula High schools play each other in the highly-anticipated game each year. The Fish Bowl game typically draws thousands of spectators and sparked concerns about security and capacity constraints in the district’s Roy Anderson Field after crowds got out of control at the 2023 game. The Peninsula School District decided to move the annual event to Mount Tahoma Stadium last year. School board members have hinted that the district might consider building a new stadium in the future, though no plans have been set or announced.

This year’s game is Saturday, Sept. 6, per the district’s news release. Gates open at 3:45 p.m. at Mount Tahoma Stadium, at 4634 S. 74th St. in Tacoma. Kickoff is at 5 p.m.

Tickets are sold exclusively through GoFan, a change from previous years when tickets were sold on PurplePass. “No cash sales will be available at the gate,” the release says, but district spokesperson Danielle Chastaine confirmed in an email Thursday that tickets can be purchased at the gate via debit or credit card.

Tickets are priced as follows, per the release:

  • Adults and high school students without an ASB card - $8
  • Seniors (62+), military members, out-of-district high school students, and middle school students - $5
  • PSD high school students with an ASB card, elementary students and other young children - Free

The GoFan site indicates that a small fee is charged on top of the price of each ticket, so a $5 ticket is actually $6.15 and an $8 ticket is actually $9.24.

A clear bag policy will be in place. Gig Harbor High School posted on Facebook Tuesday that clear bags must be a maximum of 12 inches by 6 inches by 12 inches. Visitors can bring clutch bags that are a maximum of 4.5 inches by 6.5 inches. “Medically necessary bags and diaper bags are allowed after being screened,” the post says.

Visitors should avoid bringing valuables. An adult must accompany any youth in middle school or younger. Visitors aren’t allowed to reenter after leaving the venue, or tailgate, according to the post.

“Security will be present throughout the event,” the post says.

The district’s safety and security officers, Tacoma Police, Tacoma Fire and “some field supervisors provided by Mt. Tahoma” will staff security at the game, district spokesperson Chastaine wrote.

Parking will be free, but limited. The district encourages arriving early and released a map showing assigned parking for each school. Peninsula High School fans can park in the lot off of South 74th Street, and Gig Harbor High School fans in the lot off of Verde Street. Overflow parking is also available and marked on the map.

The Peninsula School District released a map showing assigned parking locations for each school at the 2025 Fish Bowl football game between the Gig Harbor High School Tides and the Peninsula High School Seahawks. Overflow parking is also available outside Mount Tahoma Stadium in Tacoma, Wash., Saturday, Sept. 6, 2025.

Those who can’t make it in-person can livestream the game on NFHS Network.

Asked how the district believes last year’s game went at Mount Tahoma, Chastaine wrote that the district saw it as a success.

“Due to the size of Mt. Tahoma, we were able to comfortably fit all of our fans,” she wrote. “There were no security or medical concerns. Moving this game to a neutral field benefited the teams. It’s clear Fish Bowl is one of our most popular traditions at PSD, and has outgrown the space available at Roy Anderson Field. We are grateful to have a local resource like Mt. Tahoma for this event.”

She told The News Tribune last year that the estimated cost to rent the stadium was $1,500, not including pay for the event workers provided by Mount Tahoma. The cost to the district to pay those workers was “near the same cost that PSD would pay for their own event staff at Roy Anderson,” she wrote last year.
