Puyallup: News

Here’s what is going into the old Famous Dave’s spot in Puyallup. It’s not a Cheers Bar

There’s a new restaurant coming to the South Hill Mall in Puyallup that will offer Tex-Mex cuisine.

The building at 3811 Ninth St. SW will turn into Salud! Bar & Grill. Owner Ali Medizadehkashi said doors to the restaurant are expected to open by mid-August. Medizadehkashi also owns Cheers Bar & Grill South Hill at 4110 S. Meridian.

Salud will offer “family dining along with a sports bar atmosphere,” according to a news release from the South Hill Mall.

The space used to house Famous Dave’s. The barbecue restaurant chain closed its doors about four years ago, The News Tribune reported in March 2019.

Other additions coming to the mall include Tea Story. The shop will have bubble tea, milk teas, smoothies and snacks. It’s scheduled to open by the end of July. It’ll be between Macy’s and H&M.

Fan Zone by Hat Stop is scheduled to open in August. The store specializes in caps, hats and other athletic gear featuring professional and collegiate teams. It’ll be next to Old Navy.
