Puyallup drivers will have to be careful when driving near the intersection of Shaw Road and Pioneer today.

According to a Facebook post from the City of Puyallup, crews will be installing a new signal at the Safeway entrance from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on July 19.

“There will be temporary lane closures along Shaw, and the entrance to Safeway will be closed while the work is taking place,” the post said. “Residents will need to access Safeway and the other businesses at Pioneer Crossing via East Pioneer.”

This new signal is part of the East Town Crossing project, a mixed-use apartment development under construction at 2902 E. Pioneer. The project will also include a McDonalds and yoga studio.

The project’s website says the apartments are set to open this summer.
